Coaches Wanted CMHA is always looking for enthusiastic, qualified individuals with strong leadership and teaching skills to coach the CMHA teams at all levels. Those individuals interested in coaching for the 2010-11 season can contact theCMHA Executive for more details. A completed CMHA CMHA Coaching Application and RCMP security/background check are required. See the coaches page for additional Coaching Resources and information. CMHA supports and funds coaches’ ongoing education and development. |

| CMHA Coaches Guidelines
Minor hockey is developmental hockey. Our objective as coaches is to provide athletes at all levels with the instruction and the opportunity to develop their hockey skills (skating, puckhandling, passing, shooting, goaltending) and their hockey smarts (team play, positioning, offensive/defensive responsibilities, specific situation strategies) in a positive sport environment that builds and encourages teamwork, enthusiasm, hard work, and character, both on and off the ice. Coaches set a positive example by displaying respect for players, opponents, officials, parents and the game of hockey when coaching, competing, winning and losing with class, both on and off the ice. Coaches are on time. Show up at the rink early enough to be ready to go at least 5 -10 minutes before the scheduled practice or game, so the players know the practice/game plan and you have time to complete a thorough warm-up. Coaches are privileged to coach Cougar hockey. Coach the Cougar teams with pride and class. Ultimately, regardless the competitive level of play, coaches need to make sure Cougar Hockey players have fun playing the great game of hockey. |

Coaching Requirements
Coaching Certification Levels & Requirements • *** New *** All registered team officials 16 years of age or older must attain their Hockey Canada Speak Out (Harassment and Abuse) Program certification by February 1st of the current season.
• *** New *** At least one team official listed as a Coach on all minor teams from Novice to Midget must have attended a SHA Body Checking Workshop by February 1st of the current season. Exceptions to this rule are the Recreational, Non-Contact, and Female Programs. • Each team must have one (1) team official listed as either Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Manager, Trainer, or Stick Person attain their Hockey Canada Safety Program certification. • All on-ice "helpers" must be registered on the team certification form. Novice - All Atom - All Peewee - Tier I Peewee - Tier II, Tier III, & Non-Contact Bantam - Tier I Bantam - Tier II, Tier III, & Non-Contact Midget AAA Midget - Tier I Midget - Tier II, Tier III, & Non-Contact • Intro to Coach certification must be attained if coaching kids six (6) years and under.
• Coach Stream certification will be accepted for the Novice age division. • Coaches must have Development I certification prior to taking Development II. |
